AFLEX set to establish African Affairs Department

ADDIS ABABA –The African Leadership Excellence Academy (AFLEX) revealed the plan to establish an African Affairs Department with a view to bringing transformative change in the continent.

The above was disclosed when the AFLEX officials held a panel discussion with resident African Ambassadors yesterday.

Speaking at the occasion, AFLEX President Zadig Abreha stated that the academy has finalized the preparation to establish an African Affairs Department that will focus on African studies. To facilitate guidance and support, the department would be led by the AFLEX Vice President and chaired by the African Union Chairperson.

“The department would evolve into an African organization reflecting African tradition and social-cultural realities.”

Zadig also mentioned the department’s aim to build and coordinate African leadership. Developing African leaders would contribute to reducing poverty, bridging the gap between Africa and the rest of the world, and aligning the continent with global advancements.

The study would also enable African leaders to implement effective strategies and policies to address pressing economic challenges. Owing to a growing demand for effective leadership in Africa, the department’s establishment is timely and strategic.

According to him, AFLEX’s efforts contribute to building African leaders’ capacity toward continental development and progress. “Still, there is no ground to discuss African issues in African soil and to achieve this, it requires Africans coming together and setting their agenda.”

“The academy’s mission is to be an African center of excellence in leadership and creating the next generation of exceptional leaders with premium experience and innovative learning to transform the lives of their people.”

Hence, AFLEX wants its human resource to reflect the African continent and to build future transformative leaders. The academy has been also working to open new MA programs in African studies, the president remarked.
