Guinea ready to elevate relations

ADDIS ABABA- Guinean President Alpha Conde, who is in a three-day state visit to Ethiopia said his country enjoys strong and long-standing relations with Ethiopia and vowed to continue working together on African and international affairs.

His remarks came as he was welcomed by FDRE President Sahelework Zewedie yesterday at the National Palace. Expressing his delight over the appointment of Sahelework as President, he told journalists that he has long time acquaintance with the President which dates back to the Ethiopian students’ movement.

This would help further propel the ties between the two sisterly countries, he added. Alpha Conde’s visist to Ethiopia conveys special message to the two countries’ bilateral relation hip of the two countries that has now reached a new height.

The president knows a lot about Ethiopia and amplifies pan Africanism . Multiple agreements have been signed to further cement the ties. Earlier, Ethiopian Foreign Minister Dr.Workneh Gebeyehu met Guinean delegation where agreements were signed in the area of transport, higher education and tourism, investment and others. President Conde is expected to lay down a cornerstone to start the construction of Guinean Embassy in Addis Ababa. Ethiopia and Guinea have started their bilateral relations dating back to the 1960s.
