ADDIS ABABA– The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) has announced that preparations are underway to hold an inclusive and participatory consultation in Tigray state soon.
The ENDC briefed journalists yesterday on its ongoing efforts to make the National Dialogue effective, inclusive, and participatory.
During the press conference, ENDC Spokesperson Tibebu Tadesse stated that the time is right to gather agendas in Tigray in order to enhance the inclusivity and participation of the National Dialogue.
He noted that the Commission is currently holding discussions with the Tigray Interim Regional Administration and other stakeholders to identify major challenges and propose relevant solutions for a successful National Dialogue.
According to Tibebu, the active participation of political figures, civil society organizations, youth representatives, religious leaders, and members of the Diaspora community will significantly contribute to the success of the process.
He also mentioned that the ENDC is making efforts to engage with political parties, individuals involved in conflicts, prisoners, and those whose legal cases are being processed, under special circumstances.
Tibebu added that agenda collection has already been conducted in various parts of the country, with the exception of the Tigray state.
Once agenda gathering in Tigray is completed, he said, approximately 4,500 people from across the country will take part in the main phase of the National Dialogue.
He called on all relevant parties to contribute to making the national consultation truly inclusive and participatory.
