OLF calls on armed members to cease fire, join camps

ADDIS ABABA- In a bid to fully respect the Asmara Agreement between Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) and the Ethiopian government, OLF called on its armed members to cease fire and join temporary camps that are established by the government.

OLF Deputy Chairman Ararso Bikila told Oromo Media Network (OMN) yesterday that the government has been upholding the agreement and OLF has come to the country keeping its promises of pursuing peaceful struggle. He,however, said: “While some of our soldiers are in camps being disarmed ,others have not yet given up the armed struggle for various reasons.

Therefore, these groups have to be disarmed as per the agreement in view to ending instability in some parts of the Oromia State.” “ So long as we have strong trust in the government, we have to be cooperative in the ongoing peace building efforts under any circumstances .”

As to him, OLF has popular support in Oromo State and overseas thereby avoiding skirmishes here and there is a must to win the Oromo people struggle for equality and justice in a democratic manner. .”
