ADDIS ABABA– Turkey hailed Ethiopia as school linked to the FETO organization was handed over to the Turkish Maarif Foundation (TMF) in Harar, Ethiopia last week.
As a significance breakthrough in Ethiopia, a school linked to FETO has handed over to TMF which it is believed that the school to be governed by TMF will be very beneficial for Ethiopia and the people of Harar and contribute further to improve people-to-people relations between Ethiopia and Turkey, Turkish Ambassador to Ethiopia Yaprak Alp stated on Monday.
She added: “I hope that line with our excellent cooperation and mutual understanding with Ethiopian officials, other schools linked to FETO will be handed over to TMF soon.” In order to prevent any shortfalls resulting from the steps taken against FETO (an organization labeled as terrorist by Turkey), especially in the field of education, TMF maintains its activities across the world.
Meanwhile, Turkey reiterated its strong condemnation of the coup attempt perpetrated against the Amhara State of Ethiopia, which resulted in the loss of the National Defense Forces Chief of Staff of Ethiopia, President of the Amhara Regional Government and other high level officials.
In connection to the 3rd edition commemoration of the 15th of July, 2016 coup attempt planned by the FETO terrorist organization in Turkey, Ambassador Alp expressed that Turkey wholeheartedly empathize with the Ethiopian people and government.
“I would like to convey our condolences to the friendly people and the government of Ethiopia and underlined that Turkey is against all attempts to unlawfully change elected governments and we stand by the Ethiopian government in the aftermath of this coup attempt,” she said.
In the failed July 15 coup attempt in Turkey, the parliament building, the presidential complex, the national intelligence organization (MIP) and the Turkish National Police were bombed. It was claimed the life of 251 citizens and injured more than 2000 people, according to the Ambassador.
