Cultural Showcase marks Ethio-China 55-year diplomatic ties

ADDIS ABABA – A vibrant cultural performance was held last Sunday at the headquarters of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia to commemorate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and China.

The event celebrated the growing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The cultural showcase aimed to strengthen people-to-people ties through artistic expression, featuring a diverse array of performances that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of both nations.

A standout moment of the evening was the performance by a Mongolian cultural troupe comprising 13 talented artists, who presented traditional Chinese art forms. Their contribution helped promote cultural understanding and exchange, further enhancing collaboration in the cultural sector.

Speaking at the event, the Culture and Sport Minister Shewit Shanka underscored the value of such initiatives in promoting Ethiopia’s cultural diplomacy. “This celebration not only honors our longstanding diplomatic ties, but also serves as a meaningful platform for cultural exchange and knowledge sharing,” the Minister stated.

Looking ahead, an Ethiopian cultural troupe is scheduled to visit China to present Ethiopia’s unique cultural heritage and values. In turn, the visiting Chinese cultural group has expressed strong interest in touring key Ethiopian tourist sites, further cementing the bonds of friendship.

As Ethiopia and China continue to strengthen their bilateral and cultural relations, such events stand as a testament to the enduring partnership and mutual respect between the two nations.
