Two weeks ago, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD),along with presidents of all regional states inaugurated Halala Kella Resort, a project that is carried out in Dawro Zone of the South Western Ethiopia Regional State. Halala Kella Resort project is part of the ‘Gebeta Le Hager’ national project under the Koisha Project. Halala Kela Ressort is found in Dawuro Zone of the South West Ethiopia Regional State.
The resort which contains presidential and modern bedrooms, museum, sunset and sunrise affording sites, and other modern facilities with eye-catching natural topography and suitable weather condition, near the Gibe-III Hydropower manmade lake, will be best tourist attraction. Halala Kela served as a palace for King Kawo Halala during the 16th century and has over 1000 kilometer long manmade wall.
The area is covered by a natural dense forest and gifted with water resources. The natural topography, the weather condition, the chained mountains combined with the beautiful traditions of the society renders the area a beautiful and attractive place and an ideal spot for tourism. Prime Minister Abiy during the inauguration said that it is the best place to see the gifts of nature. “During the morning time the sun uniquely rises here and it is the happiest time to see the sunrise in this naturally gifted area, similarly the sunset also creates special feature in this beautiful topography,” PM Abiy stated.
Dawro zone, that houses Halala Kella, is found in the South West Ethiopia Region which is located at about 500 km southwest of Addis Ababa and 319 km of Hawassa City, the current capital city of both the Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples and Sidama Regional States. The above picture is a view of some part of Halala Kella Resort. This picture shows the first phase of the Halala Kella cluster section inaugurated recently. As depicted in the picture, the resort is constructed at the ideal place to view the artificial lake, the sunset and sunrises. The view is stunning as it is covered by a dense natural forest. The resort was built by keeping the natural features and forests which makes it so beautiful and attractive.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed described the site as a captivating place with breathtaking scenery and dynamic history and culture. The villas in the picture are modern recreational centers having magnificent rooms and other recreational centers built as per the traditional construction designs of traditional house style of the area.
It is a modern village with all facilities in the earthly paradise with all kinds of natural attractions. Anyone who wants to enjoy nature, Halala Kella is preferably the best ideal destination place. PM Abiy recently said that “Halala Kella, an attraction site in Dauro Zone, is an ideal place to take a breath and open one’s mind to many activities. “Lose no time to visit such a spectacular site.” Dawro Zone is one of the tranquil places with peaceful environment and Halala Kella is the most relaxing attraction sites, he stated.
“I invite everyone to visit Halala Kella to take a rest, to contemplate and to write by seeing things from new and different perspectives,” He stated. Apart from its state of the art hotel services, Halala is equipped with recreational facilities including spas, swimming pools and playground equipment.

As the resort has its own museum, in addition to enjoying natural beauty of the area, visitors can enjoy the historical and traditional values, cultures and way of life of the community. As in the picture, the museum is constructed the traditional values of the society taken as a background.
