
President Taye Atske-Selassie Opens ETEX 2025 Expo
President Taye Atske-Selassie has inaugurated Ethiopia’s Technology Expo (ETEX 2025), the largest technology expo in East Africa. The three-day event, organized by the Information Security Administration (INSA) and the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute (EAII), features local and international tech companies.
During the opening ceremony, President Taye emphasized Ethiopia’s commitment to playing a vital role in Africa’s technological development.

As part of ETEX 2025, an impressive display of 1,500 drones lit up the sky over Addis Ababa on Friday night. This drone show is the first of its kind in Ethiopia and the largest ever in Africa.
The spectacular display signifies Ethiopia’s ambition to become a leading player in the African tech industry. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), senior government officials, diplomats, and participants of ETEX 2025.
Images captured during the drone show illustrate various messages related to ETEX 2025. This unique event surprised residents of the city, marking their first experience with such an innovative technology display in the sky.

The expo opened on Friday with a colorful ceremony at the Addis International Convention Center (AICC). Attendees included President Taye Atske-Selassie, senior government officials, leaders of technology companies from both home and abroad, and invited guests from various technology disciplines.
