Though Ethiopia’s political culture is full of many crises and the vicious circle seems attached to it, the new leadership has been working to ensure trust among all political actors since it came to power. The new administration’s commitment to put in place level playing field for all was displayed by the implementation of many reforms and freeing political prisoners, among others.
In shaping the country’s political orders, the Prime Minister had worked to shape the country’s political landscape in more progressive fashion conducting productive discussions. Opposed to this those who prefer violent approaches left no stone unturned to impose their own ill purpose and regain the lost power through organizing fake federalist political groups and many conspiracies which all remained unproductive.
Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) has been at the back of all conspiracies undermining the reform happening in Ethiopia. The motive of TPLF was to remain dominant in the nation’s political and economic as well military platforms.
TPLF had been fabricating fake news and organized international weak lobbyists to misinform the international communities wanting attention but none of them worked.
As the TPLF junta special forces of the Tigray regional government attacked the Northern Command Ethiopian National Defense Force, in an attempt to rob the artilleries and other military equipment. The members of the National Defense Force have been stationed in Tigray to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ethiopia.
The red line was crossed and the Federal government declared a state of emergency and embarked on an operation to enforce rule of law in the region. The Federal Government is attempting every possible political and legal means to address the differences peacefully. Unfortunately, as the National Defense was attacked, the Federal Government discharged its duty to restore law and order based on the Constitution of the country.
It is important to understand the reality in Ethiopia. Since Ethiopia is an ancient country with a long history of statehood. The people have high regard for rule of law. The respect for members of armed forces is exemplary.
National Defense is a symbol of Ethiopian nationalism, ready in making the ultimate sacrifice to defend national sovereignty and safeguard the peace and security of the country. Hence, the murderous attack on the Ethiopian Defense Forces was a serious blunder.
Following the operation of law enforcement some international media try to make some unbalanced coverage that could harm the cause of the operation.
Ignoring the Junta’s efforts to internationalize war firing missiles to neighboring Eritrea and efforts to overthrow the federal government, they try to paint it as civil war which is unprofessional.
It is necessary to disarm the local security force, apprehend the fugitives and put in place a new civilian administration as per the FDRE Constitution. Though the operation is focused on those accused and specifically identified members of the TPLF’s that were bent on violating the Constitution and other laws of the nation.
Who are behind the atrocities committed numerous crimes including crime against humanity, war crimes and such heinous acts are reported by international organizations like Amnesty International.
But thanks to the just cause of Ethiopian people and the government of Ethiopia now the international, media houses and international organizations are apologizing to the federal government for the actions of the organization in Tigray region, according to the Ministry of Peace. The Ethiopian government has accepted the apology that Dr. Catherine Sozi asked for.
It is high time that all pertinent stakeholders should make a little research on how they framed the news as war or cover the operation conflict while the government out cried it was law enforcement measure. Those who want to downplay the law enforcement appeared to have been deliberate.
Finally, though the junta had fiercely battled on twitter against the government just cause, which is weaker by all standards on this front. The junta overplayed twitter to influence the international community.
My fellow Ethiopians, we should be vigilant in exposing the ill intention in partaking in the social media platforms because Ethiopia has just caused the operation. Ethiopia will prevail.
