BY ALEM HAILU
In this edition scouring the internet The Ethiopian Herald has managed to get an aspiring poet all-out to bring together best poems and noted poets around the globe in a digital hub and draw attention to the messages the poems carry across and entertain many others.
Rising to such heights at early age foreshadows the miracle he could do down the road if he maintains the tempo. As his interest falls in line with that of Herald, we have made him guest of the art and culture column. Excerpts
Herald: Could you tell us about who Nirmal Sharma is?
Nirmal Sharma is the founder of noblepoetry community.
Here is all about me.
I am Nitin Mukesh from India. At present I am a 17 years old boy. I have just completed my high school studies this year. My mom is Smt. Sunita Devi and my father is Mr. Mukesh Sharma. I have a brother Nirmal. I live in a joint family. My sweet family always supports me.
I am not good at studies. But others tell me this thing. I never think so because I know study is a way to survive and if we are not good in it then why don’t we get other ways. I did it and I am happy.
I am much interested in writing poetry. I have been writing poems since I knew about poetry. I am so an open-minded boy perhaps that’s why I am able to see things with a different point of view. “I hardly adopted a thing that we all have a single life, we have to do whatever we want to do in this life.”
This theory helped me to acquire many talents. I am a poet, writer and a novelist.
One of my poetry book ” IRON HILLS” is available on Amazon that contains some of my most thoughtful poems which can turn anyone’s vision towards something.
I will publish my 2 novels sooner. I am also writing songs. Till now I have written more than 60 songs. I only want to say one can do everything if he or she wants.
Herald: How and when did you get attracted to poetry?
Nirmal Sharma: I have been an open minded boy since my childhood time, for example where my friends saw dirtiness of a drain then I saw that the dirty humans made the clean drain dirty. I mean I saw things with a different view. Then I thought to pendown my different thoughts on paper and it became poetry.
In one line the openness of my mind supported me to write poetries. Now I am 17 years old and I am still a more open-minded boy.
Herald: Could you brief us about the ups and downs you went through to develop the skill of writing poems?
Nirmal Sharma : Yes, I experienced many ups and downs in my poetry career. Not still longer yet but I have experienced much in this field. One thing I want to tell you about is in start I thought that the rhymingscheme is a compulsory part for poetry as the primary class books contained all poems with rhyming scheme. But later I realized that it’s not important but till then I had written about 50 plus poems with proper rhyming scheme and deep sense.
One thing for beginners that rhyming scheme adds an interest in poem but if you can’t do it, never worry because” poetry is an emotion and emotions have not any shape,” remember it.
Herald: How did you manage to establish noble poetry? How many members do you have? What are the criteria to join noble poetry?
Nirmal Sharma: I always try to keep rise myself especially mentally. Once I realized as I read some poems deserved more than they got. But how so? I decided to create an initiative which is fully dedicated to noble work in poetry which is present anywhere.
I actually created this website to organize weekly poetry contests and found a noble in poetry every week but you know I am still 17. So I found it so hard to spread the noblepoetry.com all around the world. And our poetry contests will regularly motivate people to write and love the poetry.
Currently noble poetry has about 250 members who have their own account on the website and post their work regularly.
Yes there is not any specific criteria to join noblepoetry , but the people who want to join noble poetry must have respect and love for poetry; not compulsorily s/he writes poetry.
Herald: Are you interested in poems for art sake or life’s sake? What are the themes of most of the poems?
Nirmal Sharma: I am interested in poems for life’s sake and pen them down as an artist.
The themes of my poems are always simple thoughts. I always try to make my poems more simple as I can. I think my poems can be related with everyone’s life and every situation like anger, fraud, mother, love, heartbreak, God, satisfaction, greed and many more.
Herald: Is poetry a bit intimidating? Some say so. What is your take on this?
Nirmal Sharma: As I mentioned earlier poetry is an emotion for me and intimidation is also an emotion of human body. So it never bothers me.
