There are people who can do amazing things in this world. There are also some groups who can accomplish remarkable tasks. But, as people’s heart is very different as it is true of their faces, obviously it is difficult to act the same and stand united on similar issues.
Nevertheless, if many a paragon or softhearted persons act together, the world can display a special and unforgettable achievement at this historic juncture.
The Gamo elders on the picture are from Southern Nation and Nationalities of Ethiopia. Holding green lush grasses and kneeling down before Gamo community’s youths, whose anger had risen to its crescendo, they were pleading them to see to reason.
The elders were imploring the youths to abstain from vengeance spurred by a knee-jerk reaction. They were due to wreak havoc on the property of other ethnic group.
It with hearing that people who belong to their ethnic group are attacked by another group, in an act of vengeance, the youths spilled out into the street to inflict harm on the property of people that belong to the alleged offender ethnic group.
But, the sagacious Gamo elders had managed to placate the youths’ anger with their merciful heart and heart-touching advises.
As to the Gamo’s culture, when elders stand before an angry person or individuals holding green lush grasses the angry ones must not take action on the heat of the moment. What an appreciable deed.
