Newly appointed ambassadors should embrace global dynamics:FM Taye

Countries with large populations, like Ethiopia, face serious challenges due to the conflicting national interests among states in international relations. Ambassadors and diplomats in today’s world should understand the dynamic nature of diplomacy to protect their country’s national interest. Being merely a politician or an expert is insufficient in the realm of global diplomacy. Executing missions requires being a statesman or stateswoman. The traditional diplomatic tasks might not be applicable given the evolving nature of global diplomacy. The diplomatic competition involves all global actors, so Ethiopian diplomats must consider the overall dynamics currently shaping the world.

Int’l community should provide necessary support to refugees sheltered in Ethiopia

Ethiopia is currently hosting over 1.1 million refugees from 26 countries and is providing them with protection in line with the provisions of international agreements.

Despite Ethiopia’s efforts to provide basic services to refugees, due to the increase in the number of refugees across the world, the funds essential to provide them with care and protection are dwindling over time. Hence, the international community should strengthen in providing essential support for the refugees sheltered in Ethiopia.
