Peaceful political contestation vital to Ethiopia’s future: PM Abiy

Opening up the political space was a pivotal decision we made in 2018. Since then, we have worked to foster a democratic environment—shifting from a long-standing posture of viewing parties as opposition to embracing them as legitimate competitors. This transformation is grounded in the belief that nurturing a culture of peaceful political contestation is vital to Ethiopia’s future.

In line with this commitment, we have sustained ongoing dialogue platforms over the years with the numerous political parties registered by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) said following discussions with political parties

Art is a pillar for national strength, unity: Premier

The arts are vital to a nation’s identity and growth. Art preserves cultural heritage, promote social unity, and give voice to diverse communities. Through education, the arts nurture creativity and critical thinking. Economically, arts drive innovation, tourism, and job creation. The arts are not merely a form of expression; they are a pillar of national strength and unity.

We convened a discussion session with representatives from the arts community across all regions aimed at identifying key issues within the sector. The discussion focused to identify matters that require higher-level attention and intervention, as well as areas where artists themselves must take an active role.

Regional power connectivity key to ensure inclusive development in Africa: FM Gedion

Regional power connectivity lays a key foundation for ensuring inclusive and sustainable development in Africa. Access to reliable and equitable energy must serve as the bedrock for sustainable industrialization, job creation, and climate resilience through shared infrastructure, harmonized policies, and cross-border energy trade to fulfill the ambitions of the shared continental agenda.

Millions across Africa still lack electricity, largely due to the absence of adequate power interconnection agreements. Ethiopia is committed to building sustainable partnerships with neighboring countries by providing electric power.

The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) – is the biggest of our hydro projects and is a regional asset for everyone. Ethiopia is committed to become a reliable source of clean and renewable energy for its neighbor.

Gedion Timothewos (PhD), Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia said at the Fourth Annual Forum for Regional Integration and Reasonable Utilization of the Nile

Mesob One-Stop Center transforms public service delivery:Civil Service head

The recently inaugurated one-stop service center, Mesob Center, is transforming Ethiopia’s public service sector in modernizing service delivery. The center is providing 124 critical resident services.

This national initiative is easing service delivery. Through its digitally integrated system, the center enhances efficiency and boost customer satisfaction.

The center is the outcome of the nation’s reforms to modernize the traditional government service delivery with the goal of addressing issues of good governance sustainably. With its reform initiatives in the public service sector, Ethiopia’s effort aims to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union Agenda 2063.

The launch of Mesob Center is crucial in ensuring efficient and transparent government services. Twenty three institutions have already started providing 124 services at Mesob Center and there are efforts to expand this center where all regional states are expected to open at least one Mesob Center next year.
