Cultural exchanges aim at heightening diplomatic ties

ADDIS ABABA- The embassy of Japan held Japanese tea and Ethiopian coffee ceremonies at Japanese Garden located on the premises of the Ethiopian National Palace in a bid to further foster the diplomatic and cultural relations of the two countries.

At the occasion, Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia Daisuke Matsunaga said the ceremonies have similarities in that both provide platform for togetherness and joy. Like Ethiopia’s special coffee ceremony, the Japanese tea ceremony known as Sado is highly cherished among the people of Japan, he said.

Speaking at the ceremony, Foreign Affairs State Minister Hirut Zemene said the two countries have many things in common, and stressed the need for harnessing the cultural values to grow the ties. Such cultural occasions facilitates situation to further strengthen the relations of the sisterly countries, she said.
