Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) attended the Compact with Africa (CwA) Summit this week, a summit organized in Berlin, Germany. Launched under the German G20 Presidency in 2017, the G20 CwA has become a platform for dialogue and cooperation between reform-oriented African countries, G20 partners and beyond.
PM Abiy participated in a session focused on economic cooperation and enhancing private sector participation. On the sidelines of the Summit, the Premier also held talks with leaders of various countries and international organizations.
PM Abiy discusses with Chancellor Olaf Scholz
Premier Abiy held a constructive bilateral meeting with Germany Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin. The two leaders’ discussion aims to further strengthen the political and economic ties of Ethiopia and German.
They agreed to expand cooperation in clean energy, Foreign Direct Investment, fertilizer production, and regional security issues. The leaders of the two countries met last Sunday ahead of the G20 CwA Summit.
Premier Abiy confers with French President
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) held talks with French President, Emanuel Macron on issues of mutual concerns at the sidelines of Compact with Africa (CwA) Summit in Berlin, Germany.
“Our strengthened relations and multifaceted cooperation continues to be anchored in trust and mutual interests for sustained development,” Prime Minister Abiy said following the discussion
PM Abiy discusses with Vice President of Cuba
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a bilateral discussion with Cuba’s Vice President, Salvador Valdez Mesa who arrived in Ethiopia on an official visit. The two sides explored strengthened cooperation in the medical sector, tourism services, education and sugar industries.
During his visit to Addis Ababa, Vice President of Cuba lays wreath at the Ethio-Cuba Friendship Square which was built as a memorial to Cuban soldiers who fell on the side of Ethiopian soldiers during the 1977–78 Ethiopia–Somalia war.
