Ethiopia, South Sudan Deepening mutual interests

 The strong bilateral and regional ties of Ethiopia and South Sudan had been revealing itself through time. This strong bilateral relationship is still intact and manifested with strong diplomatic and bilateral relations which are aspired to bring economic progress to the two neighboring countries.

Despite the fact that the Horn of Africa is under the threat of terrorism, instability and economic strains the two sisterly countries (Ethiopia and South Sudan) are exhibiting their commitment to peace, regional stability and economic cooperation through diplomatic and bilateral relations.

The recent one-day working visit of South Sudanese President SalvaKiirMayardit, is an indication how the two countries are decisively working for the good of the region as well as ensuring economic growth and political stability to respective countries.

As indicated by the Office of Prime Minister South Sudan and Ethiopia have discussed further strengthening their bilateral relations in regional security and cooperation. Leaders of the two countries` have also discussed the issues of trade, infrastructural development, which has a key role to hasten economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries and the Horn countries.

Given their positive past interactions and good neighbors with regional common interests, South Sudan and Ethiopia have coexisted with mutual respect and exerting unreserved effort for peace and security in the region.

Ethiopia`s unwavering support to South Sudan`s peace and stability has never been affected even in times Ethiopia had been through hard times. Ethiopia, as a peace loving nation and promoting security in the region, is aggressively working to mediate the warring groups in South Sudan and, itwas also among the countries that dispatched a Peacekeeping force to the South Sudan.

In the face of the growing discord in most Horn African countries Ethiopia and South Sudan are witnessing exceptional bilateral relation and interests that value peace, security and cooperation. They are also committedly working for economic progress that prioritizes mutual benefit of their people.

As Ethiopia strive to preserve peace and security in the Horn of Africa the role of its counterpart-South Sudan- has also a paramount role in sustaining regional peace and stability. What is more, since the two neighboring countries share common physical boundaries, their historical and cultural attachment gives additional chances to the people living in the border area and beyond psychological security and ensure sustainable peace.

Undoubtedly, Ethiopia, as one of the most influential countries in East Africa, is playing a key role in one of security of complexes on the planet earth- the horn of Africa.

While pursuing economic development and bringing sustainable peace at home, the nation is also in pursuit of ensuring regional peace, security, and trade and infrastructure development with its neighbors. This includes strengthening both bilateral and multilateral relations with various African countries and supporting all the efforts of IGAD towards ensuring peace and security in the region and economic cooperation. The strong bilateral relations Ethiopia and South Sudan built is a clear manifestation of country`s decisiveness to ensure peace, security and economic progress in the region.
