We have learned two important lessons from Islamic history. These are to be determined in the faces of extreme challenges and compromising to be able to achieve ultimate goals. Sometimes we must compromise even what we have regarded most valuable to us like muslims did. Not only for Muslims, it’s important for everyone to take these important lessons.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in his best wish message

Social bond among Muslims and with non-Muslim brothers and sisters is so essential. In a country like Ethiopia where there are different religions, it is extra important. In fact, our country is known for religious harmony and tolerance.

Islam is the religion of peace, accordingly the Muslim community has a crucial role to play so that our country find sustainable peace. Islamic law teaches us that while celebrating Eid al-Adha, Muslims should not forget their neighbors and the less privileged. Eid is the holiday of sharing everything with the community.

Sheikh Sultan Aman, President of Addis Ababa Supreme Council

Eid al-Adha is a rememberance of our father’s Ibrahim obedience and the sacrification lamb. Its lesson is to be obedient, to strength of ones faith and devotion to lord. We can achieve the goal of Eid al-Adha by consoling the poor and needy. As the festival is a remembrance of the state of equality, respect and fair system for all human races, everyone should follow these values.
