The Teacher’s Advice

Once a teacher said to a young man,

“ In life, there isn’t much time for fun,

So, work hard with all your might;

Without respite, be it day or night.

Don’t drink, don’t smoke,

Don’ t laugh or crack a joke.”

The young man did the opposite,

Though no one knows why he did it.

With time, his savings went down the drain,

By all accounts he could achieve no gain.

At last, he went to the teacher,

To change things for the better,

That is, to seek more advice,

And do away with anxiety

With every possible price.

The teacher said, “Learn more

About virtue and vice,

Especially about smoke-screening,

And a pack of lies.”
