Enterprise working to encourage import-export

ADDIS ABABA- Ethiopia Shipping and Logistic Service Enterprise said it has been working to support export trade by minimizing services cost and offering containers free of charge for exporters who can pack items on themselves.

Also, the enterprise made 5 percent and 25 percent discount on shipping tariff and dry land transportation respectively, disclosed the enterprise in an interview with The Ethiopian Press Agency.

It is supporting investors as well to import industrial goods and export outputs while facilitating conditions for them to rent containers without collaterals.

Logistic service plays a great role in the country’s economy. And sea transportation accounts four million tons per year, but for the last five years, the country relied on the shipping services of other countries for the bulk of its imports. Ethiopian ships have a share of 20 percent in the shipping process and the enterprise has been working to increase the share.
