This was revealed in a forum Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) organized in cooperation with other partners yesterday.

The revenue has been collected from the business community and other tax payers, Authority Head Shiesema Gebreselassie said.

As the plan is to collect 29 billion Birr over the reporting period, the accomplishment is 93 percent, he added.

Of the stated amount, 19 billion Birr and seven billion Birr have been collected from direct and indirect taxes respectively.

Of 334,074 members of the business community, around 322,806 of them have been transacting transparently and paid the required taxes to the government, according to the Bureau.

But the bureau head has not also shied away from mentioning that tax fraud sets challenges in the effort of collecting more revenue in addition to technological limitations.
