Ministry collects over 160 bln. Birr

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia collected over 160 billion Birr revenue over the last ten months, Ministry of Finance announced.

Reporting its ten months performance to the House of People’s Representatives, Minister Ahmed Shide said that the country has collected total revenue of 160.4 billion Birr from projected 235.7 billion Birr. To further augment the performance, the ministry has fully implemented tax revenue improvement laws. “Implementing this will enable us to collect 10 to 30 billion Birr additional revenue.”

As to him, over ten months, the country has generated 2.1 billion USD from export trade which showed

 8.2 percent decline than previous year, he added. Members of people’s representative requested to give due emphasis for revenue difference.

Over the past ten months, the country earned 31.9 billion USD from international donors. And it has collected 174.5 billion Birr national net revenue and expended 251.1 billion Birr, he noted.

Some 77.1 billion Birr trade imbalance or budget deficit is covered by domestic and foreign loans, Ahmed stated.

The current national foreign debt has reached to 27 billion USD. Of which, about 15.8 billion USD is debt share of the federal government and the remaining 11.2 USD is public enterprises, it stated.

On the other hand, the total domestic debt of the country is 731 billion Birr. Some 344 billion Birr is debt of federal government and the remaining 387 billion Birr is debt share of public enterprises.
