ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian artists will participate in the African Art exhibition that will be organized by Alliance Francaise in France from September to December 2020. Participating in the exhibition, Ethiopian artists would get an important opportunity to present their art pieces to their international audiences. One of France’s renowned Movie Companies will also present visual works on the occasion in collaboration with its Ethiopian partners, Alliance Ethio-Francaise, Director Christian Merer told The Ethiopian Herald.
As to him, the event will involve all Africans under the wide presence of Ethiopians. Accordingly, Ethiopia will be represented by Fekat Circus, Azmari and electronic musicians, cartoonists among various visual art performers, he noted. The cultural exchange will help to foster the economic and political relations of France and Ethiopia. Artistic programs, in which various artists meet from the region, including Kenya, Tanzania, will be take place, the Director stated. According to him, the relation between the two nations is consolidating through time and the official visits of the leaders clearly show this reality, he underlined.
“During the President Macron official visit to Addis Ababa last March, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed told us that culture is the identity of a nation and as such conserving it is a must. It is a notable speech and we are working on that to promote cultural cooperation between the two nations.” As to him, the organization also undertakes various artistic programs in order to harness the potentials of Ethiopian artists so that they can get international recognition which would enable them to get the needed benefit either in finance or in other ways.
