“The TPLF group’s full-scale offensive on several fronts is jeopardizing the prospect of peace and humanitarian assistance in the region while the Federal Government has demonstrated its commitment to resolving the conflict through peaceful negotiations. The international community should pressurize the TPLF to renounce hostilities and come to the negotiating table,” Ambassador Alemayehu Tegenu, Ethiopian Ambassador to Russia

“The AU has issued an invitation for peace talks. The government of Ethiopia has accepted this invitation which is in line with our principled position regarding the peaceful resolution of the conflict and the need to have talks without preconditions,” Redwan Hussien, Minister, National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia.

“Ethiopia has been contributing to the peace and stability of the region, and I call upon all IGAD member states to continue backing the organization’s efforts to ensure peace and security and other natural and man-made challenges the IGAD region is going through. Furthermore, I underscored that Ethiopia attaches significant importance to the values and principles of IGAD and will continue to fulfill its commitments in that spirit and called on the other IGAD member states to fulfill their respective commitments so as to strengthen the regional organization. I also called on IGAD to emphasize more on regional peace and security, economic cooperation and regional integration, climate change and environment, institutional capacity building, and human resource management aspects as top priority areas,” Berhanu Tsegaye, Ethiopian Ambassador in Djibouti.

“The acceptance by the government of Ethiopia is yet another show of commitment to peaceful resolution of the conflict. It is one more chance for the international community to support this effort, put pressure on the other party to reciprocate by dropping ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ and give peace, alternative to war, a chance,” Teshome Toga, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Beijing, People’s Republic of China.
