Government Successful in Turning Challenges into Opportunities During Reform: PM Abiy

Since the reformist government came to power in 2018, Ethiopia has grappled with crippling debt (59% of GDP tied to external liabilities), weakened institutions, geographic constraints, and deep-seated divisions. This clearly illustrates the challenges we inherited during that period. The reformist government embarked on a clear path to transform Ethiopia and realize prosperity. Despite receivingboth praise and criticism, neither acclaim nor backlash has dictated the government’s course; we remain anchored to our purpose. The reform has encountered both internal and external challenges. However, the government has successfully turned these challenges into opportunities, achieving remarkable triumphs. The threats faced by Ethiopia have only strengthened its resolve, propelling the nation toward a newfound ability to defend its sovereignty with conviction. These trials deserve recognition for forging Ethiopia’s resilience. Through perseverance, the country has advanced toward its aspirations.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) stated this during his interview with ETV.

Rural Corridor Central to Inclusive, Sustainable Growth: Premier

The development of rural corridors is central to Ethiopia’s long-term strategy for inclusive and sustainable growth. These corridors aim to modernize rural livelihoods and enhance environmental protection.

The vision for rural corridor development seeks to transform Ethiopia’s rural landscape, boost productivity, and improve living standards across the country. This initiative will enhance both productivity and environmental quality.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) made these remarks while launching the Rural Corridor Project in Central Ethiopia.

USA Supports Ethiopia’s Aspiration for Securing Maritime Access: Ambassador Massinga

The United States government is fully committed to supporting Ethiopia’s quest for maritime access through diplomatic and peaceful means. Ethiopia’s aspiration for securing maritime access is legitimate.

For a nation of Ethiopia’s scale—with a rapidly expanding economy and ambitious growth projections—access to maritime trade is vital. Strengthening maritime access through commercial, diplomatic, and peaceful avenues is a fundamental priority, one that the United States government and my embassy are fully committed to supporting.

The United States is dedicated to working alongside Ethiopia to ensure stability across the Horn of Africa. Collaborating with a country of Ethiopia’s size—and more importantly, its influence and capacity to help the region re-stabilize—is a core approach for the United States. This will be a focal point in our efforts to help the region and its people achieve the prosperity and stability they desire.

Ervin Massinga, United States Ambassador to Ethiopia, stated this during his interview with ENA.
