Corporation collects 6.1 bln. Birr revenue

• Secures 460 mln Birr net profit

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation (ECWC) disclosed that it has collected about 6.1 billion Birr annual revenue in 2014 Ethiopian fiscal year apart from earning 460 million Birr net profit.

In connection with 7th construction conference, ECWC Director General Eng. Yonas Ayalew restated that ECWC has collected about 6.1 billion Birr annual revenue from various projects. It has also earned 460 million Birr net profit completing the construction of 20 construction projects out of 58 that had been carried out in the 2014 Ethiopian fiscal year.

The other 16 projects would see completion within a month. “ As it was difficult to implement or finalize projects as the Terrorist TPLF had waged war. ECWC has been forced to delay construction projects due to damaged construction machinery worth over 980 million Birr. However, the Corporation’s reform works had enabled it to accomplish its mission in the past fiscal year.”

As to him, ECWC has been carrying out with a contract value of over 45.7 billion Birr projects such as 25 buildings, 25 transport infrastructure, water and other projects. Latest technologies have increased construction capacity and enabled projects to complete projects in a short period of time. For instance, it completed the construction of house projects in two or three months.

Despite the delay of projects due to the war, ECWC has become profitable. ECWC’s reform has contributed greatly to such success , it was learnt. He stated that ECWC has finalized to open branches in other countries such as Italy, China, and others.
