Utilization of modern technology ensures quality in housing scheme

ADDIS ABABA– Federal Housing Corporation (FHC) announced that it has used aluminum formwork system technology to construct the higher government officials’ apartments inaugurated last Sunday around Gerji locality in Addis Ababa.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, corporation CEO Rashed Kemal said that the country has used an aluminum formwork system for the first time in the construction industry to speed up construction projects.

Besides, the commitment of all stakeholders along with that of the office of the prime minister has enabled to finalize this huge construction project exclusively within 18 months which is a unique project performance in the history of the construction industry of the country.

He stressed that the project was performed by a local construction enterprise called OVID construction Private limited Company along with local experts and the performance of the project directly manifests the development of the construction industry in the country.

 He noted that the performance of the project also shows the capability of the corporation to finalize projects apart from launching projects. Explaining the uniqueness of Gerji Apartment, the CEO said that the apartment contains 16 buildings having ten-storey, duplex sky villa, 510 houses each which have sized from 150 to 500 meter square and the project costs only three billion birr.

He also noted that the technology has enabled the corporation to finalize the project within the time set effectively and efficiently. Office of the Prime Minister head and Corporation Board chief, Tefari Fikre on his part appreciated the effort of the corporation and said that the measure of the corporation is instrumental in solving the problem of housing in the country.

He stressed that finalizing the project within 18 months manifests the commitment of the leaders of the project and effectiveness of the aluminum form work system technology. He said the practice should be repeated at all construction projects and sectors.
