Japanese foreign minister Taro Kono to visit Ethiopia 

ADDIS ABABA (ENA) – Japanese Foreign Minister, Taro Kono will make a state visit to Ethiopia on May 4 and 5, 2019, according to Embassy of Japan in Addis Ababa.

In his two days visit, Kono is expected to held talks with senior government officials on bilateral and other mutual concerns.

Japan through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been assisting Ethiopia on the area of agriculture and rural development, industrial promotion, infrastructure development and education.

The two countries have long standing relations, and each has established embassy in respective capitals in 1958.

Foreign Minister Kono, will also visit South Sudan and Angola to meet with the country’s leaders.

His visit aimed at strengthening cooperation on business initiatives with African countries, it was indicated.

Promoting investment in Africa is expected to be a key theme of the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development, or TICAD VII, to be held in Yokohama in August.
