Ethio-Tunisia Joint commission meeting underway in Tunisia

ADDIS ABABA – The sixth Ethio-Tunisia Joint Ministerial Commission Meeting is underway in Tunisia.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Nebyat Getachew told journalists that State Minister of Foreign Affairs Hirut Zemene is attending the meeting, in the Tunisian capital, Tunis.

Ethiopia and Tunisia share historical diplomatic ties, recognizing Emperor Haile-Selassie I and President Habib Bourguiba’s vital role for the foundation of Organization of African Unity (OAU). Nebiyat says Ethiopia and Tunisia started diplomatic relations in 1966.

The two countries have agreed to work together in cooperation and signed agreements on a range of areas including tourism, culture, industrial technology, women’s affairs and capacity building packages.
