Win-win GERD deal way forward : Mohammed Al Arusi

ADDIS ABABA- All the riparian countries have to entertain a win-win approach and work hard to benefit much out of the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam round table discussions, Mohammed Al Arusi.

Briefing the Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA) on the current Egypt and Sudan induced stalemate in GERD talks , Mohammed the conspiracy orchestrated by Egyptians and Sudanese would never bear fruit as the issue of the dam is a matter of life and death.

He, hence,said that these countries have to come up with a win-win situation as it is instrumental in breaking the deadlock and bringing about meaningful outcomes in GERD talks.

“Be that as it may, there are elements here and there which are laboring day in and day out to make the region instable. Therefore, Ethiopia should eye on all scenarios and take appropriate response to lead conditions to the right track,” he added.

According to Mohammed, Ethiopia has been endeavoring to foster diplomacy and other possible means to soothe tenses applying the leading motto of African Union stating, ‘African solutions to African problems.’

“That is why Ethiopia has all the time believe that all the disparities among nations have to be dealt with in light of the African Union chairing mandate,” he stressed.

He further said that so long as Africans do have a lot of alternatives to address problems and internal disagreements, unveiling issues that need to be kept confidential to the rest of the world is a disgraceful aspect and unexpected of Africans indeed.

“I don’t think Ethiopia’s interest and importance is obscured for Egypt unless the latter is fond of accomplishing a hidden mission via disseminating adverse information and fake news thereby prettily misleading the international community. I would like to call up on some Ethiopians who stand against their country and the international community to well comprehend the reality on the ground instead of taking the message conveyed through paid media outlets.”

Africa to the rest of the world including its indispensable role in accelerating the realization of African Union’s Agenda 2063.

He also stated that Ethiopian Airlines has collaborated with UAE-based hospitals to facilitate specialized treatments and health checks for medical tourists from African countries.

The end-to-end package includes medical treatments, arrangement of visas, airport transfers, travel guide and sightseeing, complementary spa services at the hospital premises and hotel stay, among other services.

The hospitals have opened support offices in Addis Ababa for further coordination and will provide medical, logistical and recreational support to patients flying by Ethiopian Airlines from its major African markets, Ambassador Sulieman remarked.
