As things currently stand, Ethiopia has been moving heaven and earth with the purpose of increasing the forest cover of the country more than ever before and combating climate change.
Most people were persistently getting themselves engaged in a wide spectrum of activities that could be a threat to the wellbeing of the population, in general, every once in a while.
On top of that, as most people were not giving prominence to the forest cover of the country, the forest cover of the country was time and again getting off track.
In the present climate, following Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s (PhD) green legacy initiative, Ethiopians residing in the left, right, and center of the country managed to plant billions of trees with flying colors within a very short period of time. If everyone keeps the tempo, the envisioned target could be achieved in the shortest possible time.
Regarding the aforementioned issue one thing that has to be very clear is that as Ethiopia possesses a considerable amount of geology, landscape, and environment, planting indigenous trees help the country tackle climate change in a short space of time.
Everybody should bear in mind that what we plant in Addis Ababa or in areas with similar topography and climate will be different from what we are planning to plant in other parts of the country.
By the same token, the greening camping has need of categorizing regions to be planted, species adapted to that particular area, getting ready targets to different regions to be enclosed, developing home-grown sprouts as they should be.
During the current year, Ethiopia has planned to plant six billion tree seedlings throughout the country. In the current state of affairs, as Prime Minister Abiy (PhD) has been placing emphasis on greening Ethiopia, every Tom, Dick, and Harry has been actively partaking in planting tree seedlings.
In a recently published article, a scholar who had a short stay with The Ethiopia Herald said, “This is an excellent initiative. The enthusiasm generated is truly unbelievable.
Anything that is espoused by high government officials has always a better chance of implementation. No leader of this country has ever been as engaged in tree planting as Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD). It is a historical opportunity to seize.
There are many reasons why this campaign is important. The first of these is the fact that it has increased people’s awareness of the benefits of environmental protection and tree planting. The motivation, gusto,
and interest we observed, especially in the young, has been phenomenal. We have seen people taking responsibility and planting tree seedlings in thousands in areas designated and provided by authorities.
In former times, increasing population pressure, land degradation, deforestation, water overutilization, overgrazing, and other related things have been contributing to the climate challenge.
But at this particular time, millions of people in the left, right, and center of the country have been actively partaking in planting tree seedlings every now and then.
While on the subject, as the greening campaign needs knowledge, all and sundry irrespective of age and gender should be provided with basic planting ways and means.
What is more, they should know the nuts and bolts of the planting method like the back of their hands so that the wished-for target could be achieved in the shortest possible time. As a matter of fact, greening camping has been changing the awareness level of the population as a whole once in a great while.
Above and beyond, each and everyone should keep on putting into action the on-going environmental policies, regulations, approaches, and all that kind of crap that could smooth the progress of social and green economic development and accelerate the well-being of the general public and ecological sustainability of the country.
According to pundit causes of deforestation in Ethiopia include conversion to agriculture and use of forests as a source of wood for timber, charcoal production, firewood, and construction.
These causes are shaped by underlying drivers, including national policies, institutional instability, agricultural stagnation, poverty, and demographic pressure.
Ethiopia possesses a voluminous perspective for action on climate change with a view to delivering multifarious beneficial impact for the welfare of the general public and boosting the economy of the country.
Furthermore, climate change has the prospective to restrain the vivacious pecuniary growth or reverse the gains made in the holistic transformation.
If everybody embarks on working hand in glove with the green legacy initiative spearheaded by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), the desired goal could be attained at the earliest possible time without a shadow of a doubt.
