Swallowing morsel of shame

BY ADDISALEM MULAT

It is to be recalled that the TPLF clique attacked the Northern Command of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) to get rid of the federal government and acceding to power by taking possessions of the military equipment.

As the TPLF junta officials know like the palm of their hand the fact that the Northern Command of the END Fare highly experienced soldiers who are on familiar terms with the nuts and bolts of the state of the art military strategies, they made an effort to pull to pieces the base.

In a similar manner, the TPLF junta officials were very sure that they would take control of the federal government with no trouble in a short space of time in an attempt to quench their thirst for power.

More often than not, they were dividing and sowing the seeds of hatred and discord in the midst of the various Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples of Ethiopia.

Apart from claiming to have established new administration in accordance with a fraudulent election, the TPLF officials declared that they will not carry out the orders of legislation, policy guidance, and set of rules and other related aspects to be promulgated by the incumbent regime.

As learned from the Office of the Prime Minister, “The TPLF clique and its criminal surrogates are in charge of the gruesome delinquencies in multifarious part of the country, comprising in Western Gondar, the obliteration of the town of Shashemene, and the exterminations of blameless civilians in the areas of Arsi, Bale, Benishangul, Gura Ferda and most recently in Western Wollega.

The TPLF, acting in blatant violation of the FDRE Constitution, claimed to have adopted its own electoral law, established its own electoral commission, and orchestrated a sham and illegal election in which it won all the seats in the Regional Council.

By doing so, the Regional administration showed its contempt for laws of the nation, including the Constitution, and pushed a “de facto” statehood thesis.

Of late, The Ethiopian Herald had a short stay with Binalf Andualem, Head of Prosperity Party main office. He has touched upon a wide spectrum of mesmerizing issues revolving around the law enforcement operation, the upcoming election, and things of that sort. Excerpts:

At what level is the process by which rehabilitating the Tigray State right now, as far as you are concerned?

Following the attack on the Northern Command by the TPLF Junta officials’ clique, the ENDF got themselves fully involved in the law enforcement operation at the stroke of a pen and accomplished the mission at the earliest opportunity with flying colors. They proved to be victorious over the TPLF junta clique in a very short space of time.

The ENDF partook in the law enforcement operation for the simple and good reason that the TPLF junta clique posed a threat to Ethiopia’s sovereignty in contemplation of destabilizing the entire nation within a short period.

Before the reform set in motion surfacing in a broad canvas of the country, the TPLF Junta officials were orchestrating a considerable degree of conspiracies throughout the national territory. To the surprise of everyone, over the last three years, they were getting themselves ready for war with a focus on coming to power. Reasoning from this fact, aside from training thousands of soldiers and militias, they managed to import illegally military weapons betweenwhiles.

Before attacking the Northern Command of the ENDF, the TPLF junta officials were unremittingly giving pretentious and pompous opinions in connection to the war on various media outlets. They were constantly saying, “War is our cultural game.”

Frankly speaking, the TPLF Junta officials’ were persistently making bombastic speeches. They are chauvinists and extremists. Strange as it may seem, their evil deeds have no end. I would go so far as to say, they are two ends of the same snake.

When it comes to war, they were unremittingly saying we are equaled by none and second to none. Quite frankly, they have a high regard for themselves and belittle others.

Disgracefully, the TPLF officials have made the children of the poor depart this life for the love of turning their big dream into reality despite all their efforts went for nothing.

Some of the children were made to interrupt their education with the object of prolonging the juntas’ lives and coming to power again by violating the rights of the people of the regional state of Tigray considered on a case by case basis.

Despondently, on many occasions, the children of the region were unremittingly sacrificing their lives.

If the ENDF had not conducted the law enforcement operation very wisely and carefully, quite a lot of people would have closed their eyes never to open them again. Apart from that, many heartbreaking things could have taken place beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I have the courage to say, civilians have not been killed during the law enforcement operation. I would venture to say, this is one of the biggest accomplishments of the ENDF. Against this backdrop, they deserve unreserved respect and appreciation.

Along the same lines, the counter-attack executed by the Amhara regional State Special Forces and militias in pursuance of safeguarding the nation deserves due respect and appreciation.

The people of the regional state were determinedly taking care of the captured soldiers by the Amhara Regional State Special Forces and militias taking into account the fact that they joined the army in default of their interest.

When the TPLF junta officials’ realized the fact that they would be defeated by the ENDF, they got to grips with destroying a broad array of infrastructures positioned in the Tigray region. Sad as it might sound, for the sake of materializing their dreams, the TPLF junta officials’ managed to reduce to nothing telephone and electricity infrastructures of the region.

At this particular time, a quick repair has been taking place for getting the Tigray region back on track. In consideration of the foregoing, an enormous amount of fruitful activities has been carried out in every nook and cranny of the Tigray region.

As there are displaced people on the grounds of the law enforcement operation, they will be made to return home as soon as possible.

At what level is repatriating displaced citizens at present?

As the law enforcement operation is over and done with within the foreseeable future, the rehabilitation and resettlement of displaced people have already been started in a short space of time.

The operation is completed within a short time. At the current stage, efforts are being made to bring to justice the TPLF junta officials considering that the law enforcement operation is coming to an end.

As the danger is over, no earthly power can prevent the displaced ones from returning home. An extensive range of efforts has been made to get the region back on track.

Even worse, following TPLF junta officials’ inhuman evil acts, human sufferings had reached devastating heights. They were persistently violating human rights in the length and breadth of the region.

The attack carried out in Benishangul-Gumuz and Oromia region is a manifestation of their hatred towards the People of Amhara. Distressingly, the TPLF clique partook in mass murders in Mai Kadra located in the Tigray Region in a short span of time.

The TPLF clique is culpable of heinous crimes in miscellaneous parts of the country amongst other things Benishangul-Gumuz and Oromia region. On the same terms, the TPLF junta managed to sponsor, train, and equipped quite a lot of people enthusiastic to take part in vehement and unlawful deeds.

To be quite honest, war is not as easy as falling off a log. It is like nailing jelly to a tree. It is not a simple matter. It has a devastating effect on human beings. For the sake of truth, the whole nine yards will be completed at the earliest possible

time. At this particular moment in time, humanitarian aids are being delivered to the displaced segment of society. Even though the TPLF junta officials prepared for three years, the law enforcement operation had been accomplished at the earliest possible time.

The rumor mill suggests that foreign humanitarian aid organizations do have an intention of supporting the TPLF junta members. What do you make of it?

As long as the displaced ones are Ethiopians, the government of Ethiopia feels more responsible than anyone else for them. The government cares for these people more than anyone under the sun.

At the moment, the people of Ethiopia and the government have been providing humanitarian assistance. In the real world, some foreign nationals on the pretext of providing humanitarian assistance may get off the track.

It is crystal clear that there are some governments and countries that hate the stability of the country and consider Ethiopia’s development as a threat to their existence. We do want to develop our country, but we do not have a wee drop of an idea to hurt others.

As a case in point, as some groups do not want the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam to see the day of light, they pull out all the stops intending to pour cold water on the construction of the dam.

To the surprise of everyone, as some countries consider Ethiopia as their enemy when the Northern Command of the ENDF was attacked, they felt over the moon. They were overjoyed.

In due course, when the ENDF accomplished the law enforcement operation in a little while with flying colors, some countries felt disappointed seeing that they thought the operation would take a long time and Ethiopia would get into hot water.

However, the situation ended up going in a different direction. At a loss what to do, they set in motion supporting the TPLF junta officials in a wide spectrum of ways being behind closed curtains. They have shown their support for TPLF junta officials and taken sides despite the failure to materialize their dreams.

A number of political parties including the ruling one, Prosperity Party, have reached a consensus to effectively conduct the upcoming election. What is the preparation along this line like?

As everyone knows, the election was postponed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic surfacing all over the world. As things stand at present, the National Election Board of Ethiopia has been carrying out its duties and responsibilities in a practical manner.

I would just like to say, the whole lot is heading in the right direction against this background. The election timetables have already been set.

In the same way, a broad range of institutions are at the beck and call on the subject of the upcoming election. The National Election Board of Ethiopia, National security institutions, and things of that type have been carried out in a diverse range of undertakings on the topic of law enforcement. The same things are going on for the parties.

By the way, we have discussions on various topics and choose a topic for discussion. At that juncture, based on the selected topics, we chose the right person to do the research and partake in the discussion.

We have been doing this for the love of widening the political landscape of the country. We believe that passing through these kinds of systems help the country develop the culture of an election debate.

This does not mean all political parties possess the same political ideologies. Some of them suggest elections not to be held, but they would like to come into power. The idea contradicts one another.

There are as well parties who want a transition government and a caretaker government to be established. Their way of thinking does not reflect the stances of all parties and violates the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

Honestly speaking, getting off the track will not help us achieve the desired goal by all means. However, the most important thing one has to take into account is carrying out the election is mandatory for the reason that the whole lot will be carried out based on election. Therefore, election preparation is very important.

The desired goal of the Prosperity Party is making an effort to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections all over the country. We would like to have an agreed-on election by the general public and international community. We do want the election to be dependable.
