Norwegian Official praises Ethiopia’s reforms

ADDIS ABABA – Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs African Director, Gjermund Saether, commended the wide range of political and economic reforms in Ethiopian.

Saether told The Ethiopian Herald on the sidelines of the 32nd African Union Ordinary Summit that positive developments are going on in Ethiopia which in return will have more commercial political partnerships with various organizations in the international arena.

He further stated that Addis Ababa is becoming a very important diplomatic hub as it is home to the biggest airline in Africa, Ethiopian, and the seat of several diplomatic missions including the African Union.

As Norway is close partner to the African Union and Ethiopia as well, the Scandinavian Country’s delegation led by the Prime Minister has visiting (will visit) Ethiopia and the African Union Headquarters to promote the sustainable development goals (SDGs), according to the official.

Together with the Ghanaian counterparts, the Norwegian delegation deliver a presentation on the importance of the sustainable development goals and agenda 2063 of the continental block as the country has strong partnership with many African countries in terms of financial and political support.

“When it comes to the blue economy and management of fish stokes, as Norway is the maritime nation with two-third of ocean based economy, there is great  importance for many African nations to be benefited from Norway’s experience. And for us AU is the great vehicle to promote the blue economy.”
