Adwa Pan African University’s (APAU) design is undergoing a finishing touch before released ahead of the coming 124th Victory Day, said (associate professor) Ayele Bekerie Core Committee Member of APAU.
There is also a plan to build some sections and kick start few education programs till next year’s commemoration. Three architecture groups entrusted with the task have been working tirelessly to finalize the design soon. Tasks are also underway regarding finalizing the land issue where exactly the university will be built in Adwa town.
Ayele told The Ethiopian Herald, after the finalization of the design the construction work will start soon. The building needs special care as it is peculiar by its nature in the country. It must serve an epitome for Pan African. The center should give a dissimilar sense. It has to ripple blacks’ glorious history. It must stand for blacks’ history, he said.
Adding he noted, to accentuate the 125th commemoration of next year’s Adwa Victory anniversary, preparations are well underway. Some finalized buildings will start giving services .Plans are also set to start two or more programs.
“Adwa is a globalized history. It is not only a matter of Ethiopian and Italian issue. The victory belongs to all Africans, black people scattered across the globe and freedom fighters. So, Adwa is the seedbed of pan Africanism. Beyond being free from colonization, it initiates and flickers ray of hope for all Africans. It augurs the bright future in store for Africa,” Ayele noted.
Leaning on such spirit building Adwa Pan African University that envisages surfing the tide of time can serve as a universalization of Africans and their greatness.
When we celebrate the 124th anniversary of the victory after some weeks, we must conjure up in our mind ways of reinstating Adwa on its pedestal of freedom of global implications. In fact we need to make Adwa an everlasting global site and world heritage. For instance, we have to play a midwifery role to Pan African Institution of Higher learning. We have to bring into life a cultural center in Adwa, he pointed out.
As to him, Adwa and what happened there in 1896 should set the stage for the world community to engage in research and education with focus and emphasis on equality and dignity of fellow human beings.
