• Premier urges people to maximize hospitality
ADDIS ABABA – Various heads of state and government of African Union member states are arriving in Addis Ababa to attend the 33rd Adrican Union Summit set to kick of tomorrow.
As Addis Ababa is preparing to host the Summit , Prime Minister Abiy Ahimed has called on all Ethiopians to make utmost cooperation, hospitality and guidance from the beginning to the end of the conference.
The 33rd African Union Summit will be held in Addis Ababa from 9-10 February 2020. Addis Ababa, the capital of Africa, the world’s third largest diplomatic center and the seat of the African Union, has prepared to welcome its guests. The Executive Committee meeting of the Union was also under way ahead of the Heads of State and Government summit.
“Ethiopia is a symbol and a leading force of Africa’s independence; instrumental in laying the cornerstone for Africans to form a strong Union. When our African sisters and brothers come to Ethiopia, they do not feel that they are coming to another country. They are coming to their country, for they gather in their own land and walk among their people” he adds.
The premier also urged Metropolitans to maintain Ethiopia’s centuries old hospitality to make a successful AU Summit. “If the road is blocked due to the conference, and if some of our normal activities are interrupted, let us accept that it is due to the priority we Ethiopians give for our guests,” he says.
“All of you in the hospitality business remember that you are the ambassadors of Ethiopia; the police men and women on the streets, you are trusted by the Ethiopian people to usher their guests, all assigned individuals and experts from Bole Airport to the Conference Hall are mirrors of your country. I am confident in your service,” he noted.
