ADDIS ABABA- The Korean War Veteran Memorial TVET Trainers Center of Excellence project is replaced by Productivity Improvement and Center of Excellence.
As part of the Korean War Veteran Memorial TVET Trainers Center, about 337 Korean War veterans’ descendants were provided with short term training in technology related fields over the last three years. The trainees were also offered with job opportunities, said Director of Productivity Improvement and Center of Excellence Yeshiwork Eneyew speaking to The Ethiopian Herald.
Some Korean volunteers are still giving technical support in technology, machine operation and other vocational training areas, she stated. To sustain the legacies of the former Center, a new Center has been set up with the aim of supervising and recruiting competent technologists and supporting various TVET Colleges in Addis Ababa, according to her.
“Currently, the center’s training has focused on practical training in automobile or technology areas targeting the production of competent, motivated, adaptable and innovative manpower to improve productivity and increase their competitiveness at a global scale.”
Now, the center is offering training to teachers who are teaching in various poly Technique College levels in Addis Ababa and hold A, B and C Masters, degree, and Diploma.
The center has been giving training for about 184 TVET teachers from June 2018 to March 2020 in upgrade their skills in modern vehicle handling, garment, auto mechanic, electricity, manufacturing, wood works, leather, construction and computers. Trainings are offered for free, she added.
