ADDIS ABABA—Ministry of Trade and Industry State Minister Teka Gebreyesus said the Qatar-Ethiopia Matchmaking event-2020 has helped promote industrial relationship between the two countries.
Recently, the Qatari business delegation held a visit and matchmaking event in Ethiopia. On the event, Teka explained that the visit has paramount importance to Ethiopia in terms of building a platform for communication and cooperation between the companies of the two countries, particularly in the industry sector.
In recent years, Qatar and Ethiopia have established close relations, based on historical ties and a common desire and keenness to develop the two countries to open wide horizons of opportunities and areas of cooperation in political, commercial, economic, investment and other fields.
According to him, there are several agreements and memorandum of cooperation signed between Doha and Addis Ababa. Currently, Qataris are investing in Ethiopia in agriculture, construction, manufacturing, real estate, and transport, he said.
As to him, it is high time to strengthen the economic and trade cooperation between Ethiopia and Qatar thereby fostering the use and benefit of the country’s untapped resource potentials.
He reiterated that the matchmaking event has provided a golden opportunity to discuss the latest policy developments, exchange experience and enhance trade and economic cooperation and finally create greater space and potential for mutually beneficial cooperation.
Accordingly, the massive development of Industrial Parks (IPs) has become a conducive condition in attracting multinational investment, supporting economic diversification as well as promoting Ethiopia’s export volume.
