ADDIS ABABA – Ministry of Peace has launched the registration of the first term of the National Voluntary Service Program at all districts of the country.
Asma Radi, Director General of Strategic Partners Coordination Office at the Ministry said that several youths aged between 18 and 35 have been registered to provide multilateral voluntary services.
According to her, the program is unique in obtaining the attention of higher government officials for its previous accomplishments.
All the activities including the budget allocation is going to be assessed by the government officials.
The Ministry has been working with greater commitment and devotion to advance the performance of the program, adding that the registration was done via online, she remarked.
Noting that around 10 thousand youths are expected to take part in the voluntary service, she indicated that three month trainings will be offered for volunteers on issues like cultural coexistence and national pride.
She mentioned that the participants are expected to take part in activities according to their professionals, such as construction, engineering to assist people in need.
As volunteers would provide the service irrespective of their state boundaries, they could play a significant role in reinforcing positive relations among the youths and different ethnic groups.
Volunteers will also benefit in gaining new experiences and practices from the service they provide.
The government will provide the necessary support till they completed the service, she added.
