ADDIS ABABA – Abyssinian Flight Services and Aviation Academy graduated 54 pilots on Sunday, The Ethiopian Herald learnt.
At the graduating ceremony, the aviation academy said it graduated 54 pilots – two flight trainers; 22 professional pilots in Commercial Pilot Licensing (CPL); and 30 pilots in Private Pilot Licensing (PPL).
The graduates hail from various countries like Ethiopia, Republic of Sudan, South Sudan, USA, Yemen, and other countries. Capt. Solomon Gizaw, Managing Director of Abyssinian Flight Services and Aviation Academy, told journalists that since its inception, the academy has graduated about 186 pilots, including this year’s graduates.
“Currently, we own and operate 17 aircraft, one helicopter, the only private pilot training school and aviation academy in Ethiopia and employ more than 100 people,” he said. In addition to that, Abyssinian Flight Services and Aviation Academy celebrated 20th year’s anniversary.
Abyssinian Flight Services is the first private air service providers in Ethiopia and also to establish the first private pilot training school having established the school in 2006, the school now upgraded into an aviation academy by incorporating other aviation training as well .
