Meanwhile, the park has been facing many
problems which are being caused due to human and natural factors. Climate
change and deforestation are among the predicaments that beg for solution-eying
intervention of every responsible stakeholder, Yaregal underlines. There is a
massive-scale deforestation and environmental depletion that could pose serious
danger to the existence of the park.
To sum up, Lower valley of Omo was
inscribed in UNESCO’s heritage list in 1980. Though the park is the most
fascinating, it is still an unexploited tourism destination in Ethiopia.
Hence, the Ministry of Culture and
Tourism, Culture and Tourism Bureau of the state, private investors and other
stakeholders should pay attention for the park and Omo River. They need harness
the massive tourism potential of the area so as to augmentforeign currency
earnings.
Besides, environmental protection schemes should be
made a point of in the area to preserve the priceless animal, birds and plant
species.
