“The smile that brightens up my customer’s face while I serve them is what affords me a deep joy,” Tesfa Mergia

Obviously, life is replete with circumstances. Life preaches loud about so many things: happiness, joy, tragedies and what have you? One feat in life could lead human beings to glorious ending or tragedy. The stories of successful people we appreciate do not take shape overnight. What makes their story great is not the current status they acquired but the hairpin turns they experienced and circumvented in the arduous track of life.

No matter what and how difficult situations prove to be, hard work, perseverance and sagacity can get one where and what one want to be.

Today, The Ethiopian Herald’s success story column has come up with a young man who created job for himself and some of Ethiopian youngsters who graduated from universities like himself. Though he was hired in different companies and earns a handsome salary, he could not be satisfied.

As a result, he decided to leave his job and create his own job. He started a job that some of our society brushed aside referring it women’s job. The objective of this journalist is to introduce to its readers the perks of being entrepreneur rather than being employee or how to be own boss in life.

The Ethiopian Herald Journalist had a time of while with Tesfa Mergia. Tesfa was born and raised in the capital Addis Ababa. He is the second child of his family. He is the founder and owner of Tesfa Coffee. He earned his BA in management from Adama University. Unlike most graduates, earning his BA he didn’t take much time hunting for jobs. He got employed in different companies with a good salary but he was overwhelmed by the idea of creating own job true the dream he nourished from his childhood.

Money alone will not effect change in one’s life. As the saying goes” Money is a bad master but a good servant!” Money will be meaningless in the absence of knowledge how to manage it and how to use it for intended target.

As to him, salary could turn to addiction that keeps people away from creating their own jobs.

He opened an internet café renting a small room which he lately changed to a coffee shop. After the opening of the coffee shop, gradually, his clients’ base of coffee fans continued to expand.

As to him, hard work and commitment is what allowed his current success. Success is not a windfall. As a prerequisite it sets time, passion and energy. So, everyone should stay patient to accomplish one’s dream, Tesfa added.

Currently, he has penetrated the market with Tesfa coffee, roasted and packed coffee, in addition to his coffee shop. He is a young individual who has a huge dream but lack of proper working place and convenient environment are still what make him fail to expand his business in advance.

Always there is appreciation to hard workers. Due to his commitment, Tesfa got a roast machine as a gift. Using that he is delivering a roasted coffee called Tesfa Coffee to different shops. He created a job opportunity for about ten people.

Moreover, serving clients with “The customer is the king moto will help service rendering institutions to maintain the already existing customers contented while attracting for new ones”. On the other hand, the way one treats the customers have its own impact on one’s business.

You will meet lots of people with different behaviors and this will teach one the value of tolerance beyond business activity. “Always the smile of my customer while I serve them is what gives me a deep joy”. Though he has employees charged with specific tasks Tesfa enjoy serving his customers. Due to that, a range of customers come to his coffee shop every single day.

In addition to his coffee shop and roast, Tesfa has been participating in volunteerism. Voluntarism is the activity that you do just for your internal happiness and satisfaction without receiving anything in return since internal satisfaction, by itself, is more than any gift. He has been actively participating in campaign of helping orphan children. He had gone to different places in the country to engage in such blissful deeds.

Parallel to running a coffee shop, he uses to host art nights at his coffee shop every Wednesday and Saturday. As to him, hosting art nights at his coffee shop is among his objective to help youngsters develop their skills and make them different themselves from addictions and unnecessary places.

Let us be hand-in-hand and transform the country to prosperity Tesfa told.
