Ethiopia suitable for Japanese investors more than ever: FM Gedu

. Ethio-Japan business and investment forum held in Yokohama

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedu Andargachew has called on Japanese investors to make use of the conducive investment situation in Ethiopia which is suitable for Japanese investors more than ever. Gedu made the remark at the Ethio-Japan Business forum and exhibition that taken place in Yokohama on the sidelines of the ongoing 7th Tokyo International Forum on Africa’s Development (TICAD).

According to a press release Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent to The Ethiopian Press Agency, 180 Japanese investors and 43 members of Ethiopian Business Community have participated in the forum. Ethiopian Ambassador to Japan Kassa Tekleberhan on the occasion acknowledged the collaboration of Japanese institutions and companies in the efforts of the embassy to send investors to Ethiopia and expressed readiness to further provide the necessary support for the investors to help them benefit from the opportunities in Ethiopia.

President of Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO) on his part witnessed about the investment opportunities and pledged to enlighten his members about them. Meanwhile, during his meeting with his Japanese Counterpart Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed has explained about Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reforms and the opportunity for Japanese businesses to invest in Ethiopia’s agriculture, tourism, ICT and Mining sectors. Abiy has also visited Toshiba Energy Solutions plant where he called on the company to invest in Ethiop’s geothermal sector.
