• 2024 Ethio-Green mobility exhibition kicks off
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia is making a remarkable progress towards achieving green energy transformation and committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the implementation of green initiatives, Ministry of Transport and Logistics announced. The ministry has organized the Ethio Green Mobility 2024 Exhibition and symposium, which will run for over a week at the China-Ethiopia Huajian Light Industrial Park from November 22 to 30, 2024.
Transport and Logistics Minister Alemu Sime (Phd) stated that Ethiopia has made significant strides in implementing green initiatives over the past years.
As the world shifts towards green energy, the nation is also making efforts to achieve green energy transformation. The government nationwide green energy initiative reflects the country’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and realizing green energy transformation, he remarked.
As a result, Ethiopia is making substantial contributions to green energy and is actively working to further explore its renewable energy potentials. Green energy is becoming a key component in the transformation sector, significantly aiding economic development and enhancing integration. With its untapped renewable energy resources, Ethiopia aims to become a leader in the green economy and improve its transport ecosystem, Alemu added.
The ten-year strategic plan for the transport sector serves as a standard for sustainable development goals, with Ethiopia emphasizing the execution of electric transport services as a key component of its dedication to green energy. The government focuses on the adoption of vehicles powered by renewable energy as part of the country’s commitment to fostering a green economy, he stated.
Echoing the above remark,Speaker of the House of Peoples’ Representatives (HoPR), Tagesse Chafo said that Ethiopia is embarking on green energy transformationthat has seena significant achievement over the past few years.
The adoption of electric vehicles in the country coupled with Ethiopia’s untapped renewable energy will further drive the nation’s path towards green energy transformation, he noted.
The government is making coordinated efforts to ensure inclusive growth and improve the livelihoods of the people, which is yielding positive outcomes. Ethiopia possesses untapped potential for green energy and has established a national objective to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by promoting the production and assembly of electric vehicles, thereby empowering the private sector, he stated.
The Expo is believed to create an opportunity to showcase Ethiopia’s commitment to sustainable transportation and its efforts to build a climate-resilient green economy.The Expo showcases the latest innovations in sustainable mobility, including cutting-edge electric vehicles and renewable energy technologies and others.The expo provides a platform for networking and collaboration among stakeholders from various sectors, creates market linkages between local and foreign companies and facilitates experience sharing between firms engaged in green transition thereby driving Ethiopia’s vision for a greener future.
