• Sets to operate in full capacity next year
ADDIS ABABA – Kingdom Ethiopia announced preparations to maximize operation capacity to 85%in two months with a plan to produce yarn in full swing next year.
Kingdom Ethiopia Group Logistics Department Manager Bethelhem Kassim told The Ethiopian Herald that the company has been working to commence operation in full capacity next year, producing linen yarn products that it promotesglobally.
Right now, the company is operating only with 65% of its capacity due to shortage of container and logistics, power and other challenges, the Manager said, adding that activities are underway to maximize its operation capacity to 85% in the coming two months and to operate fully next year.
However, Bethelhem stressed that addressing the aforementioned problems requires government’s further commitment and support.
The company has been exporting 100% of its products to some 27 countries worldwide.
Recently, it held “Go Ethiopia Linen Global Textile Forum 2024” involving some 150 company representatives or supply-chains from various countries in a bid to explore and motivate Ethiopia’s textile sector opportunities.
Currently, Kingdom Ethiopia group has completed the construction of 600 houses for employees to motivate them and raise production capacity, she noted.
The company has been working to substitute flax product imports while the effort requires special training and importing flax seeds, according to the Manager.
Ethiopia has favourable weather conditions to produce flax products four times a year. As a result, there is a plan to produce flax, an input for linen yarn locally, she stated.
Since its commencement of operation in 2021, Kingdom Ethiopia has created over 1200 permanent jobs. In the just ended Ethiopian fiscal year, the company has secured over 12 million USD from its 100% export. It has been also working to expand its operation in the future, Bethelhem added
