ADDIS ABABA – Ever since, the government launched a reform, various government institutions are striving to maximize public satisfaction through undertaking various service delivery mechanisms, officials said.
Dr. Bikela Duressa, Public Service and Human Resource Head at Oromia State told The Ethiopian Herald that, since the country has registered better result, particularly in widening the political landscape, improving the justice system, increasing people’s participation, and protecting human rights during the past two years, the government now eyes to improve the public service in a way that could satisfy the demand of the people.
According to him, people often complain on bureaucratic red tapes and poor service delivery in public institutions for the past many years.
As part of the ongoing reforms, Oromia State is carrying out better service for people through improving organizational structure, providing training for employees, and carrying out continuous follow up and supervision. Despite the reform is still a beginning, appeals of the people are not still responded in a full manner, Bikela stated.
Zenabu Tunu, Public Relations and Communication Affairs Director at Federal Attorney General said that the justice sector has carried out various tasks in creating efficient law enforcement and modernizing the justice system over the last year.
According to Zinabu, providing training for officers, strengthening cooperation with stakeholders and the like are the prior tasks to modernize the justice sector. However, a lot remains in providing quality capacity building trainings.
Zinabu also said the government has been taking serious measures to ensure rule of law, protect human right, and establish independent justice institutions.
Explaining the indicators for the prevalence of good justice system in the country, Zinabu said that there are no political prisoners in jail, press freedom is respected, and no political parties in exile in the stated period.
