Association urges youth to replicate patriots’ victory preserving sovereignty

 Nation marks 83rd Victory Day

ADDIS ABABA – The present generation needs to repeat thepatriots’victory of over fascist forces in the fight against poverty and preserving Ethiopia’s sovereignty and integrity, the Ethiopian Patriots Association said.

Speaking to the Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA) in connection with the commemoration of the 83rd Victory Day, Association President Lij Daniel Jote stated that the patriots’ commitment and sacrifice to fend off invaders should inspire the current generation in preserving their country’s sovereignty.

Lij Daniel also stated that the patriots’ determination and enormous sacrifice they paid for five years to disarray invaders also symbolizes today generation’s ability to preserve Ethiopia’s integrity.

Recalling the fierce struggle the patriots waged against Fascist occupation, he added that they were well mannered, disciplined, religious, and well aware of any possible setbacks that the

country could face. The patriots’ victory has driven home the lesson for the need to engage in activities that will contribute towards nation building.

The association president further stressed that the youth have the responsibility to replicate the patriots’ victory of Fascism into education, trade and in other broad diplomatic perspectives.

“Taking bold lessons and courage from their predecessors, the current generation is expected to repeat similar victories in business and in other bilateral and multilateral activities to ensure Ethiopia’s development and prosperity.”

The Victory Day would also be a great message for the Ethiopian National Defense Forces and other security actors who are on board to sacrifice their lives for the country’s sustainability. “There is also a great lesson for the current security apparatus from the patriots’ determination to defend Ethiopia’s soil from foreign aggressors.”

Lij Daniel called on stakeholders to nurture patriotic and disciplined citizens who are always vigilant to discharge their national responsibilities.He also emphasized the need for an intensified effort to aware the international community about the enormous sacrifices the patriots have paid for freedom.

Patriots’ Victory Day commemorates the end of the Italian occupation on May 5, 1941.
