Factory with over 700 Kg/hr. coffee roasting capacity begins operation

ADDIS ABABA – Modern coffee processing factory that envisages boosting earnings from coffee export inaugurated in Addis yesterday.

Melange Coffee Roaster which envisions penetrating the international market with its products is said to be fitted with state-of-the-art digital technology. Factory Owner and Director General Solomon Kassa told the Press that the new factory has a capacity to roast up to 720 KG of coffee beans per an hour. The factory’s machine as well has a packaging capacity of 1,800 KG roasted and ground coffee, according to Solomon.

At the event, Ethiopian Investment Commission Promotion Director Aschalew Aseffa said the investment is exemplary particularly to Ethiopians living overseas proving as they can work and prosper in their country. Besides, the investment offers jobs to citizens; thus, the government encourages the effort, according to him.

Also, Zambian Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to AU Emmanuel Mwamba commend Melange Coffee Factory for it targets processing the Ethiopian legendary coffee. He also expressed hopes that it paves the way for Africans to trade among one another.

The continent ought to resort to value-added products, he said, mentioning that Africa has focused for long time on export of primary agricultural produces. The investors have wealth of experiences working at different capacities at the renowned American coffee company, Starbucks, it was learnt.
