Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Kenya Meles Alem, planting a tree

ADDIS ABABA- Ethiopian ambassadors and members of the diplomatic community stationed in various countries abroad took part on july 29th. nationwide and global record -breaking tree planting initiative.

Ethiopians plant seedlings in Nairobi

The seedling plantation program organized to plant trees at the premises of the Ethiopian Embassy in Nairobi was carried out successfully, in the presence of Meles Alem, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Kenya and friends of Ethiopia.

Speaking on the event, Ambassador Meles remarked that Ethiopians have shown their passion for their country and their keenness by supporting the government’s commitment. They are not limited by distance.

Mentioning the longstanding experiences of Ethiopians in standing together in times of joy and sadness, he

 stressed that Ethiopians should join hands in other nation building activities.

Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Algeria plants saplings

Ambassador of Ethiopia to Algeria, Amin Abdulkadir and the diplomatic staffs in the Embassy have joined the National Program of Green Legacy Initiative by planting seedlings in the premises of the Embassy.

Ethiopian Diplomats in New Delhi plant seedlings

Dr. Tizita Mulugeta, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to India, together with diplomats and staff members, planted variety of tree seedlings within the premises of the Embassy as the whole nation rises to the occasion of the national drive, Green Legacy.

On the occasion, Ambassador Tizita Mulugeta commended that the ambitious initiative of the Ethiopian Government to plant 200 million trees in a single day. This grand national project was launched by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed on May 26, 2019.

Ethiopians from all walks of life have joined hands to carry out the massive seedling plantation project which is believed to make significant contribution to improve Ethiopia’s suffering environment, transform degraded environments and impact of climate change.

 Staffs of Ethiopian Embassy in Kampala, Ethiopian Community leaders in Uganda, Diasporas and media representatives have planted about 200 seedlings in the Embassy’s premises and the Ambassador’s residence.

During the program, Alemtsehay Meseret remarked that the program is the joint hands of Ethiopians that the country came to plant 200 million seedlings in a single day. She also mentioned that it is possible to elevate the country high with similar cooperation.

While staffs of Ethiopian Embassy in Kampala planting seedlings

Mulu Solomon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and staff of the Embassy have joined the Green Legacy that was initiated by the Primer last May.

At the occasion, around 15 saplings were planted at the Embassy’s premises. And, it is expected to plant more seedlings at the residence of the Ambassador.

Seedling program in Riyadh

Ambassador Abdulaziz Ahmed, Embassy’s Diplomats and representatives of Riyadh Ethiopian Community members planted more than 200 seedlings at the premises of the Embassy.

Diplomats of the Embassy mentioned that the plantation could play a pivotal role in creating green world and putting Ethiopia at forefront in the activities of tackling climate change.

The plantation was done under the theme: “We are plants and we are nothing without them.”

Ethiopians planted saplings in Cairo

In the attendance of Ambassador Dina Mufti, Ethiopians living in Cairo planted seedlings at the compound of the Embassy.

In his speech at the occasion, the Ambassador said that the plantation is a gift that this generation grants to the next.

Besides protecting environment and climate change, plants are the backbone of world’s economy, said the Ambassador.

The Green Legacy Campaign that is initiated by the Primer, in addition to putting the nation in Guinness World Record, it is the indication of Ethiopia’s commitment in tackling climate change.

Though they could not be at their motherland, religious leaders as well as Ethiopians took part in the plantation program were delighted to be part of the green campaign, it was learnt.
