Japan provides 1mln. USD to prevent acute humanitarian crisis

ADDIS ABABA-The Government of Japan is assisting the UNDP by providing funds of USD 1 million for “The Stabilization Recovery Support for Communities Affected by Gedeo-West Guji Displacement”.

[The project is meant to] prevent an acute humanitarian crisis that has inflicted significant damage on public and private lives and their properties, according to information obtained from the website of Embassy of Japan in Ethiopia.

Denmark is also assisting the project, it added. On July 9th 2019, Ambassador of Japan to Ethiopia Daisuke Matsunaga visited Hawassa with representatives of the Ministry of Peace, National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC), UNDP and local governments, the statement said.

At the event, he discussed planned activities, expected outcomes, outputs and approaches for the effective implementation of the project.
