ADDIS ABABA– Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed announced that he would leave his official residence on premises of the Menelik Palace soon and reside in the National Palace, where Ethiopia’s President lives.

The Premier’s remark came yesterday while briefing members of the House of Peoples’ Representatives on the 386.9 billion-birr federal budget for the 2019/20 fiscal year.

Noting that extensive activities are underway to restore palaces, Abiy stated that he is moving to the National Palace aimed at turning the Menelik Palace into one of the country’s leading tourist attraction sites.

The Menelik Palace would be opened to public in September 2019.
