Chinese embassy plans to increase tourist inflow to Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA- Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Tan Jian vowed to promote Ethiopia’s attractions and increase the inflow of Chinese tourists to Ethiopia.

In an exclusive interview with The Ethiopian Herald, the Ambassador said a large number of Chinese businesspersons and tourists transits via Bole International Airport on a daily basis. “At least 4,000 Chinese businesspersons and tourists transit via Bole International Airport, but in 50,000 tourists’ visited Ethiopia 2018.

Nearly one million Chinese visited Africa in the stated year, he said, stressing that compared to the attractions, visitors who set their feet on an Ethiopian soil could be insignificant.

“We’ll promote the attractions to lure more Chinese visitors to Ethiopia.”

He said: “In my year and a half stay in the country, I have visited over 16 places and found them being unique and breathtaking places in the world compared to wherever I have visited. Therefore, the problem is not lack of what and where to tour but information and public relations job.”

Over 150 million Chinese tourists traveled across the world in 2018/2019, it was learnt.
